Rajya Sabha today continued to see repeated disruptions and was unable to take up business. Members of the opposition party demanded a statement from the Prime Minister on the Vyapam issue. The opposition party raised similar demands in Lok Sabha also.
The Minister of Home Affairs made a statement in the lower house with regard to the Gurudaspur attacks earlier this week. Members in the oppositions however demanded certain remarks be expunged from the statement.
The Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare submitted its report on the Homoeopathy Central Council (Amendment) Bill. The Bill seeks to disallow admissions in homeopathy medical colleges which do not conform to the prescribed educational standards. The Bill provides that prior permission of the central government will be required to admit a new batch of students in any course. Medical qualifications will not be recognised for colleges that fail to obtain such permission.
Productivity until now is at 9%. Both the houses this week were adjourned for two days following the death of Former President APJ Abdul Kalam.
