Three bills were introduced in Lok Sabha today. These are the National Anti-Doping Bill, 2021 and the Chartered Accountants, the Cost and Works Accountants and the Company Secretaries (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and the Wild Life Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2021.
The National Anti-Doping Bill, 2021 establishes a National Board for Anti-Doping in Sports. The Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 is being amended for the implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora to which India is a party. The Chartered Accountants, the Cost and Works Accountants and the Company Secretaries (A) Bill strengthens the disciplinary mechanism of the three institutes.
Amendments made to the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, 2019 were also approved in Lok Sabha. The Amendments insert two new sections in the Bill to specify rights of a surrogate child and to establish a National Assisted Reproductive Technology and Surrogacy Registry for registering surrogacy clinics.
A Calling Attention Motion on the ‘Khelo India scheme’ was on the agenda today. This has been postponed to be taken up next week.
Rajya Sabha adjourned for the day within 20 minutes from the start of the proceedings. Before adjourning, the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs announced the government business for next week. This included consideration and passing of the Prohibition of Child Marriage (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and the Election Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2021 after their introduction.
