Parliament met for the first sitting of the Winter Session today.
The session is scheduled to run until 23 December, 2015 and will consist of 20 sittings. The legislative agenda includes 19 Bills currently pending in Parliament for consideration and passage. 14 new Bills are proposed to be introduced. Out of these one will also be taken up for consideration and passing.
The first two days of the Session in both Houses are reserved for discussion on India’s commitment to the Constitution. Lok Sabha saw leaders across political parties participate in the debate. The discussion was initiated by the Home Minister, Mr. Rajnath Singh. Contributions of B.R Ambedkar in the drafting of the constitution, ideas of federalism, secularism were some of the common themes discussed by the members.
Mr. Dayakar Pasoonuri from Warangal constituency also took oath as a member of the Lower House.
Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day as a sitting member of the house, Mr. Khekiho Zhimomi passed away.
