The Economic Survey, 2014-15 was tabled in Parliament today
by the Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley.
The survey projects economic growth for
2014-15 to be at 7.4%, while for 2015-16 to be in between 8.1% and 8.5%. The
survey emphasizes on the potential of GST and Direct Benefit Transfer system. The report also suggests that labour reforms and
land laws must be taken up by both the Centre and the states.
Lok Sabha introduced The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2015.
The Bill replaces the ordinance promulgated earlier in January. The Ordinance relaxes the mandatory provision
of one year continuous stay in India for Indian Citizenship. Certain additional
grounds on which a person may register for Overseas Citizenship Card are also
added in the Ordinance.
Discussion on the Motion of Thanks concluded in the lower
house after the Prime Minister’s reply to the debate.
