For the third straight day, Question Hour and Zero Hour did not function in Parliament. One question was taken up during the Question Hour in Lok Sabha but it soon adjourned due to disruptions. Later, two Bills were introduced in the House amidst din. These are:
The Essential Defence Services Bill, 2021 replaces an Ordinance currently in force. The bill allows the Central Government to prohibit strikes, lock-outs, and lay-offs in units engaged in essential defence services.
The Inland Vessels Bill, 2021 replaces the 1917 Inland Vessels Act. According to the bill’s Statement of Objects and Reasons, the bill brings in uniformity in the provisions in the application of the law relating to inland waterways and navigation within India.
During the day, the Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture submitted its report on the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

6,78,344 The Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises informed Lok Sabha today that in 2020-21, under the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme, banks have sanctioned and disbursed loans to 84,793 micro units, providing employment to an estimated 6,78,344 persons. This is against the target of assisting 78,625 people to set up micro-units and to generate estimated employment for 6,29,000. |
106 The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports informed Lok Sabha today that a total of 272 infrastructure projects have been sanctioned under the Khelo India scheme. The projects were sanctioned between 2017 and 2021. Of these, 60 projects have completed 100% work while 106 have had no work completed. |
