Rajya Sabha skipped the Question Hour today again and continued with its general discussion on the Union Budget.
The Finance Minister, in her reply to the debate on the Union Budget, highlighted seven green shoots in the economy or indicators which showed positive sentiment. She also outlined a 13-point plan for improving public and private investments, a 7-point plan for boosting consumption and a 6-point plan for encouraging exports. She noted that 98 Members in Lok Sabha and 55 Members in Rajya Sabha participated in the debate.
The Standing Committee report on Labour on the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2019 was tabled in Parliament. The Code seeks to regulate health and safety conditions of workers in establishments with 10 or more workers, and in all mines and docks. The other two labour Codes — Code on Social Security, 2019 and Industrial Relations Code, 2019 were referred to the Standing Committee on Labour during the Winter Session.
Both the Houses have been adjourned for the first half of the Session and will meet again for the second half of the Budget Session on March 2.
Before adjourning, Lok Sabha passed the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Second Amendment) Bill, 2019. The Bill amends the list of Scheduled Tribes of the State of Karnataka.
During recess, Committees will meet to examine the Demand for Grants of various ministries.
