The Prime Minister replied to the discussion on the President's Address in Lok Sabha today. He said that India has become part of the global value chain due to the efforts of the Atma Nirbhar Bharat program. He also spoke about the reforms in the MSME sector including the credit guarantee scheme and about his government's focus to build multimodal transport systems through the Gati Shakti Master Plan.
Following the PM's response, the Motion of Thanks was adopted through a voice vote.
A general discussion on the Union Budget followed in the House.
In Rajya Sabha, the discussion on the President's Address continued. Members raised issues related to the reduction of subsidies in this year’s Budget, the country's standing in the Global Hunger Index and the demand for special category status for Andhra Pradesh among others.
A Bill each was introduced in the two Houses of Parliament. They amend the lists of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in relation to Jharkhand and the list of Scheduled Tribes in relation to Tripura.
Parliament suspended the first hour of business in both Houses after obituary references for former Rajya Sabha Member Ms. Lata Mangeshkar. Ms. Mangeshkar was nominated to the Upper House in 1999 and served as Member till the end of her tenure in 2005.
