The Finance Bill, 2021 was passed in Lok Sabha today. Finance Bills are introduced with the Budget and include details of the change in tax rates, and imposition of taxes on various entities. With the passage of the Bill, the budgetary process has concluded in Lok Sabha.
The House then took up discussion on the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development Bill, 2021.
In Rajya Sabha, six bills related to the Budget were discussed together and passed. These included the Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2021 as well as Appropriation Bills for the Union Territories of J&K and Puducherry. Rajya Sabha now only has a recommendatory role in considering and returning the Finance Bill back to Lok Sabha. With this, the Union Budget 2021-22 will be considered to have been passed.
The House adjourned repeatedly when the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2021 was taken up for consideration and passing. Rajya Sabha will now meet tomorrow at 10 AM.
Earlier in the day, one Member drew the government’s attention to the plight of manual scavengers and demanded government action. More than 20 Members associated with the issue. The Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation (Amendment) Bill, 2021 is listed for introduction in the legislative agenda for this session.

11,58,208 The Ministry of Home Affairs informed Lok Sabha today that about 11.6 lakh cyber security incidents were observed during 2020, while the year 2019 saw about 3.5 lakh incidents. This information was reported to and tracked by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In).
