The Goa Information Technology Development (Amendment) Bill, 2023
- The Goa Information Technology Development (Amendment) Bill, 2023, was introduced in the Goa Legislative Assembly on August 10, 2023. It amends the Goa Information Technology Development Act, 2007. The Act regulates the establishment of Information Technology (IT) Townships and Parks in Goa.
- Committee for developing IT townships/parks: Under the Act, the state government has the authority to notify an area as an Integrated IT Township or IT Park. The Bill establishes a committee to scrutinise and approve applications for land development and building construction for development of IT Townships and Parks. The Committee members include: (i) the Managing Director of the Goa Information Technology Development Corporation as the chairperson, (ii) an architect nominated by the Corporation, (iii) the Head of Engineering Section/Chief Engineer of the Corporation, and (iv) an officer nominated by the state government.
- Functions of the Committee: The Committee will perform all the functions of the Chief Town Planner, Town and Country Planning Department in a non-planning area. It will also carry out functions of the Planning and Development Authority in a planning area. If a person is aggrieved by the Committee’s decision or order, he can appeal to the Goa Town and Country Planning Board.
